Social Network Software and Social Networking Engines
Enterprise Social Network software allows an organization to build an effective
community where group members can assist one another in performing the
assigned tasks.
A well designed Business Social Networking system should
integrate modern collaboration tools such as forums, instant messaging, blogging,
micro-blogging, file management, bookmarking and tagging.
Another important feature in choosing an Enterprise Social Networking Software is access
control so that intellectual property and sensitive information cannot be
accessed by non-members.
The system administrator should manage the authentification of the users and
also assign roles to the users such as group administrators and moderators, etc.
The group administrators and moderators should monitor and approve the
contents published in the Social Networking system to ensure that the users
are using the system effectively and that the company usage policy are enforced.
There are many public social networks such as facebook, myspace, linkedin,
wordpress, technorati, youtube, bebo, and feedburner. micro-blogging sites such as twitter.
Enterprise social business software such as IBM Connection and Microsoft
Sharepoint are already implemented in large fortune 500 corporations.
IBM is releasing BlueTwit while Oracle has the OraTweet.
facebook and google has released API so that 3rd party software developers can
integrate into their network.
